Atlanta Weight Loss DietsWhen not considering weight loss, there are few things that are more refreshing to me than eating fresh piping hot corn on the cob, with plenty of butter and salt. It is such a refreshing and healthy tasting treat. What could be wrong with that you might ask?
Well, In America the average adult consumes 67% of their total caloric intake from only 3 foods - corn, soy and wheat. The consumption of these 3 foods should only be about 5 to 10% of our total diet.
Obesity is on the rise and with it significant health issues. The imbalance of the American diet is largely to blame. More specifically, these three foods are hindering your ability to lose weight.
It's not a surprise that we have also developed so many intolerances and allergies, specifically to soy and wheat (And gluten intolerance).
· Human digestive systems are complex and were never designed to deal with large amounts of:
· High fructose corn syrup.
· Soybean oil
· Soy protein
· Soy protein
· Refined wheat flour
Several other derivatives including- corn or wheat starch, mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin and much more.
Just think of all the sodas, Marinades, salad dressings, ketchup, breads and hundreds of other foods that contain loads of high fructose corn syrup.
Now here is another shocker. Farmers are feeding cattle mostly corn and soy even though there systems are not designed for it. It puts way more fat on farm animals which brings the farmers more money when the cattle are sold at the market.
Omega 6 to omega 3 ratios are altered and become unhealthy when farm animals are fed a steady diet of soy and corn. If that were not enough they will also experience a drop in CLA, fats that come naturally to grass fed cattle. This is also a fact for farm-raised fish, salmon and chickens.
Many people will eat fish, chicken and beef in an attempt to be healthy, however you may see a negative health impact because these animals have a high corn, soy fat buildup.
If you are truly going to affect weight loss and get a handle on our health, then it all starts with the grocery cart.
· Limit junk foods to 1 day a week, cheat day.
· This is best on 1 day dinning out so that it isn't in your home to tempt you.
· Tomato sauces contain soybean oils and HFCS, avoid them. Instead, choose sauces created with olive oil.
· Canola oils are unhealthy as well.
· A good alternative to corn chips would be a veggie stick and guacamole.
· Reduce your cereal, bread, and pasta intake by having them on your cheat day.
You will likely never attain a perfect diet to lose weight, however if you will reduce the amount of soy, wheat and corn in your diet weight loss will follow. Aim for healthy levels of these food times your weight and you health may depend upon it.
